The two hour bus ride was comfy and scenic as we left Tuscany and entered Umbria, the "green heart of Italy." Rick Steves had recommended that at least one night be spent in Assisi, and we were so glad to have taken his advice. From the moment we first saw this beautiful, old village perched on the hillside, we knew it was special. |
| From Assisi you can see the original Los Angeles, the domed St. Mary of the Angels church, where the Franciscan order originated. The monks later named LA, California after this church. (Dsc01598.jpg) |
