EUROPE!! We have arrived! Actually, our big adventure started yesterday at 4:30 a.m. Denver time. We took one short flight to Dulles in Washington, D.C., then one loooong, cramped flight to Frankfurt, Germany.

Even though we arrived at 6:15 a.m. Central European Time, our good friend Eric Singer was waiting for us at the airport. A quick bus ride took us to Darmstadt, where Eric lives in a charming downtown area. No skyscrapers here, no steel and glass giants, just small shops and colorful German architecture. Cobblestones mingling with asphalt and cement.

We were all tired, but determined to fight it! We freshened up, then went in search of breakfast--cafe au lait (espresso with steamed milk) and pastries.
We were so excited to be there, but I didn't feel like I was in a foreign country. I think it helped tremendously to be greeted by Eric.
